Prof. Sinkala is the current chairman of the association’s oversight and governance efforts helping to strengthen BAZ's presence in industry and push the biofuels industry forward.
He is also Chairman of Biomass Development Plc of Zambia which has entered into a joint venture with Wuhan Kaidi of China, aimed at investing multi-billion dollars in biofuels industry in Zambia. He is also an internationality renowned biofuels expert and pioneer. He has written many papers (including for the United Nations) and given countless number of presentations on biofuels across the globe. Under his Chairmanship since the inception of BAZ, the association has been able to achieve tremendous progress towards establishing the industry despite the general global negativity towards biofuels. Because of BAZ’s never-give-up stance coupled with the desire to see the country grow from this industry, BAZ has received tremendous support from the Zambia Government and other industries.
Prof Sinkala is a Mining Engineer by profession and for a long time worked at the University of Zambia. His company Thomro Biofuels is one of the pioneers on biofuels operations in Zambia. The company has undertaken a number of innovative Jatropha plantation trials towards minimizing the cost of production.
